The Superior General Arrives in Australia
Yesterday, the Superior General, Fr Luis Ignacio “Chicho” Rois Alonso OMI, arrived in the Province of Australia. Arriving in Western Australia from his visit in Indonesia, Fr Chicho was greeted at the airport by Fr Andrew Chen OMI, Provincial of Australia and Fr Meno Basti OMI, Provincial Councillor and Rector of St Patrick’s Basilica, Fremantle.
We welcome Fr Chicho to the Australian Province for his pastoral visit. Over the next few days, he will be able to visit the ministries of St Pat’s parish and care centre in Fremante, as well as Mazenod College and Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Lesmurdie. He will then have a short stay in Adelaide to visit the parishes of St David’s and St Pius X, before heading onto to Victoria. There he will visit the Provincial House and St Mary’s Scholasticate, St John Vianney’s parish and Mazenod College, the parish communities of the Mornington Peninsula and the La Trobe valley, as well as experiencing the Rosies outreach in Melbourne city. Whilst in Victoria, Fr Chicho will officially bless and open the new St Eugene’s Retreat and Conference Centre. He will then continue up to Queensland where he will visit St Eugene’s College and parish in Burpengary, celebrate mass and visit Iona College, as well as visit the Cannon Hill parish and Rosies ministries. He will conclude his visit in Sydney at the Eagle Vale parish, before returning home.
We pray that Fr Chicho has an enjoyable visit to the land down under and his visit bears fruit in our ministries through a renewed fervour for our shared mission.
