Oblate Week Resources

Each year, we are blessed with the opportunity as members of the De Mazenod Family to celebrate the life, mission, and charism of our founder, Eugene de Mazenod. What the Oblates call “Oblate Week” runs from the 21st of May, the feast day of St Eugene, through to the 29th of May, marking the anniversary of Blessed Joseph Gérard OMI.

This year’s celebration carries particular significance as we continue marking the 200th Anniversary of the Pontifical Approval of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Across the world, the Oblate Family is celebrating this bicentenary as a moment of gratitude, renewal, and hope: giving thanks for the countless people who have lived the charism over the past two centuries, while also discerning how we are called to continue the mission into the future. It is an invitation not simply to look back, but to walk forward together with renewed zeal, courage, and communion.

Since the inception of the De Mazenod Family in Australia, the De Mazenod Family Office has prepared resources each year to help our communities mark this significant week in ways that are meaningful, prayerful, and connected to the heart of our charism. This year, we are excited to share a collection of resources designed not only for Oblate Week itself, but for use throughout the year. Whether you are part of a school, parish, youth group, outreach ministry, or local De Mazenod Family community, these resources are intended to support reflection, prayer, formation, and community life as we continue to deepen our connection to the charism of St Eugene.

As we celebrate this bicentenary year, may these resources encourage us to recognise God’s presence in our history, embrace the gift of our shared charism, and continue walking together as pilgrims of hope. Inspired by St Eugene’s bold witness, may we continue to “leave nothing undared for the Kingdom of God.”
